When I first believed I am a natural skeptic who has to experience things myself to believe. So, when I decide to believe something, it is because there is insurmountable evidence. When I was six, I decided that there was no such thing as God and stopped praying. (My parents’ prayed with me sometimes, but I just did it to please them.) After a week or so of not believing, I felt so alone. There was something missing. No, it wasn’t the security of believing in something. It felt like the light in my life had gone away. There had been a holy spirit inside me, and now there was not. So, I decided that there must be something out there, God or alien, or whatever. Finally, I got down on my knees, alone in my room and prayed. All I prayed was: "Dear God, or whoever is out there" and I got back such a feeling like a loving person would feel towards a child who is confused. The feeling came from somewhere else, like it was placed inside of me. Right then and there, I knew that God was real. After that, I may have made mistakes, but I always knew that God was there and would never give me more than I could handle! |

"Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." ~ Isaiah 40:30-31 "They will never hunger or thirst again, and they won't be troubled by the sun or scorching heat. The Lamb in the centre of the throne will be their shepherd. He will lead them to streams of life-giving water, and God will wipe all tears from their eyes." ~ Revelation 7:16-17 "Dear friends, don't be surprised or shocked that you are going through testing that is like walking through fire. Be glad for the chance to suffer as Christ suffered. It will prepare you for even greater happiness when he makes his glorious return." ~ 1 Peter 4:12-13 "We often suffer, but are never crushed. Even when we don't know what to do, we never give up. In times of trouble, God is with us, and when we are knocked down, we get back up again." ~ 2 Corintians 4:8-9 "God loves you and has chosen you as his own special people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient. Put up with each other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ has forgiven you. Love is more important than anything else. It is what ties everything completely together." ~ Colossians 3:12-14 "Don't be immoral in matters of sex. That is a sin against your own body in a way that no other sin is. You surely know that your body is a temple where the Holy Spirit lives. The Spirit is in you and is a gift from God. You are no longer your own." ~ 1 Corinthians 6:18-19 "We never give up. Our bodies are gradually dying, but we ourselves are being made stronger each day. These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing." ~ 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 "These tents we now live in are like a heavy burden, and we groan. But we don't do this just because we want to leave these bodies that will die. It's because we want to change them for bodies that will never die. God is the one who makes all of this possible. He has given us his spirit to make us certain that he will do it. So always be cheerful!" ~ 2 Corinthians 5:4-6 |

1 Corinthians 12:13 | ||
If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fanthom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountian, but I have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perserveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; when there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesize in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child. I thought like a child. I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. On-Line Bible |

Church | ||
It seems to to me that the best thing about church is seeing other people who genuinely seem to care for you, for no other apparent reason than the fact that you are one of God's children. I'd just as soon not go to church, though, because the perfume is too extreme for my lungs to handle. I still listen to tapes from my church's services, though. It is good to hear everyone's voices! | ||
